About Us

As a mother of two sensory seeking children myself, I’m dedicated to designing safe, stylish and durable chewable jewelry that every child will feel confident wearing.

Munchables was started in Vancouver, Canada, after the birth of my first child, Aiden, in 2013. In the first years few of my venture, as I faced the steep learning curve, of running my own business, I focused primarily on the emerging market of teething jewelry for babies. 

During this time, I listened to increasing numbers of parents who, like myself, were seeking chewable jewelry for their sensory seeking children. Parents repeatedly asked me to shorten my existing beaded styles, that were intended to be worn by adults, for their kids. I quickly realized that there was a market for stylish, discreet chewelry (chew + jewelry). At that point, I began to make a variety of beaded styles, which were received positively. At that point, with my own children getting older, I realized that not every child wanted a style that contained only beads. As a result, I began to design custom pendants that kids could feel comfortable wearing not only at home but also around their friends. 

I am thrilled that Munchables is now recommended by the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists for their ability to divert chewing and "to provide potential regulating effects for the sensory system - reducing fidgeting and promoting attention and focus." 

I am incredibly lucky to have the support of my husband and mother to help raise my two children, aged 7 and 10, who are home-schooled. It is balancing act running a home-based incorporated business and having our children around all the time, but I feel so lucky to have found my calling.
